Deeper Intimacy With Jesus in 2014

2014

Happy New Year!! I am praying that this year will be your very best year yet and may you draw closer to God and more intimate with Him than ever before. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). Resolve in your heart that you will make it a point to foster an even more deeper, intimate relationship with Jesus this year.

Here are 3 ways you can grow deeper in intimacy with Jesus this year.

1. Daily Communication.

Intentionally set aside time EVERYDAY (yes, everyday–as you would with an earthly husband) to read the Word of God and to be still and quiet before Him so that you can hear from Him.  He wants to share with you the vision He has for you for 2014 and He wants to guide and direct you each day down the path that will get you to reach the goals and dreams He gives you for the year.  Hearing from God requires quietness and stillness in His presence.  As with any other relationship, communication is required. So when one person talks, the other listens and eventually has an opportunity to talk as well while the other listens.  God wants to communicate with us…all the time.  He wants us to talk to Him and He always listens, but we too have to stop talking and listen to what He has to say. Let’s learn to be faithful listeners as He’s always so faithful in listening to us.

2.  Daily Journaling.

Journaling is an awesome way to document your spiritual journey and where you’re at right now in your walk with God.  Pour out your heart to Him on the pages of your journal and also write all of  God’s promises to you.  As you spend time communicating with God, don’t forget to journal and write down the vision as you receive it!  Habakkuk 2:1-3 says, “I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me.  And what I will answer when I am corrected.  Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.  Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

This verse reminds us that we need to wait on God to get the vision and then we need to write it down as we receive it.  It is Him who will cause the vision to come to pass, and “it will surely come.”

3.  Daily Worship.

Worship draws us into deep intimacy with God.  Romans 12:1-2 tells us that true act of worship is when we offer our bodies as a “living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God”.  Therefore we should be living our daily lives to please Him…this will be “your true and proper act of worship.”  Each morning ask God what He wants you to do with your day and intentionally seek Him and His desires throughout the day.  Then also renew your mind daily by spending time in God’s Word and communicating with Him, as mentioned in points 1 and 2.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Friends, I’m praying for each one of you that reads this article and that you come to know God more intimately than ever before in 2014.  That your passion for Him is wildly unleashed unlike you’ve had yet to experience. Let us pursue Him like crazy this year with reckless abandonment.  Remember, He loves you SO much and is just waiting on you, like the perfect gentleman.  Many blessings and love to you!   7
