Tests & Trials: Strengthen Your Faith

Tests & Trials: Strengthen Your Faith

So in my last post i started a three part series on Tests & Trials within the context of Faith. In part one ‘Passing the Test of Faith’ i wrote about the fact that we will have various tests and trials in our lives and that our faith will be tested with these trials (check it out here). Today i’ll be talking about the “strengthening of our faith” as a result of the tests and trials we have to endure.  God allows us to go through trials in order for us to develop and mature spiritually and grow in strength, character and perseverance.

Right now in my life i am being tested in several areas…like majorly, all at one time! … And it is SO uncomfortable and painful and tiring! There are times when i just want to say “I quit”, “I can’t do this”, and just crawl into my bed and get under my covers and just hide there for oh, the rest of my life. But can i just tell you all that the times i most feel the harsh pressure and weight of it all is when i’m choosing to listen and entertain the lies of the enemy. Lies like “Why would God allow you to go through this?” “He is almighty and powerful but yet He’s choosing not to help you…couldn’t He just turn things around with a snap?” “Maybe He just doesn’t care or He’s punishing you or Isn’t this a little cruel for you to have to endure this?” The lies go on and on but it is the enemy’s ploy to use our testings and trials (which are to mold and shape us to look more like Jesus), to his advantage and to get you to detach your heart from God and draw you away from your source of life! God allows us to go through trials for our benefit and for our training in faith. Trials are necessary and beneficial for our journey with God. That’s why it tells us in James 1 that we should “consider it pure joy when we are faced with many trials of all kind”.  You see it’s a mysterious thing when in the middle of the heartbreak we respond by looking solely to Jesus as the source of our help, strength and joy through our crisis and how He so meets us right we are and not only comforts us in our pain, but then He also does the beautiful work of transforming and changing our hearts, minds and attitudes to be more like Jesus’.

“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed.” 2Cor. 4:8

When you are being tested and feeling crushed and pressured with no answers it is so easy to get caught up in wanting to give up and give in to the situation; and unfortunately a lot of times many people do give up and give in. They give up on God and give in to the pressures, fears, anxiety, depression and isolation. It can feel as if God totally checked out on you and is turning a blind eye to the very real and painful thing that you are going through. Those are all feelings and our feelings are not always telling us the truth of the matter. Our feelings and emotions are fickle and fluctuate from day to day, hour to hour so we absolutely cannot go by those feelings. We must go by truth and the truth is that God is simply JUST wanting you to believe Him through the tests and the trials. He wants you to be steadfast and firm in your belief of whom you yourself have professed Him to be in the past before you had these trials hit. He wants you to stand and persevere in your faith and profess the truth of who He is. When you are not experiencing breakthrough, PROFESS HIS FAITHFULNESS! When you are experiencing injustice, PROFESS HIS GOODNESS! When you are experiencing loss, PROFESS HIS KINDNESS! As you go through the tough things, you must profess all of who He is, because who He is NEVER changes despite the things we have to go through and that is the TRUTH. Therefore we must love Him through the trials. How you walk out the tests and trials is going to determine the kind of breakthroughs and rewards that you’ll receive from Him.  If you are faithful to Him through these tests and trials and you endure the temptation to pull away from God, you can expect for your faith to be strengthened in a way you couldn’t have conceived and for God to promote you spiritually and even circumstantially.

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1: 12

Even when you’re feeling alone, lonely and abandoned, would you still choose to believe that He said He would NEVER ever leave you? When you’re feeling like you’ve somehow been thrown into the fire and nobody cares, would you still choose to believe that He said He would NEVER forsake you? When you’re feeling weary and tired from fighting a battle in which it seems you are losing, would you choose to believe that He said He is your strength?

Our faith is therefore strengthened when we resolve in our hearts to love and fully trust God through the tests and trials. Knowing that He is developing in us a fierce and tenacious power to withstand the storms of life…and He promises us a faith that will lack nothing!

“Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be (people) perfectly and fully developed (with no defects), lacking in nothing.” James 1: 3-4 amp

Let’s hang in there friends and keep trusting Him…He is faithful! That is truth!

I would love to pray for you…Please let me know how i can be praying for you!

Love you ALL!
